If you were a fan of Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon starrer Luka Chuppi, which released earlier this year, then this piece of news will make your day. The makers are bringing back the cast for a sequel to the movie, a report in Bombay Times suggests. While the first installment dealt with the idea of living in relationship with family, the second one will deal with divorce amidst a family set-up. Interestingly, during the promotions of Luka Chuppi, Kriti Sanon, had hinted towards the sequel in a passing statement. And it seems her words have become reality.
Producer Dinesh Vijan, who also helmed the first part confirmed the reports. While talking about the movie, he said, "It is currently being written. The idea is to push the envelope and play around the theme divorce sah parivar. The couple is divorced, the family doesn't know it and the chaos that ensues because of this complex, yet funny situation... It's a good time to think about what the trend in the content space will be like in a year or 18 months down the line. We will take roughly a year to write the film and then take matters forward."
Giving a clearer picture of the sequel, Dinesh further added, "While we've seen many films revolving around live-in relationships, we infused the family angle in Luka Chuppi, which made it more accessible to the audience. It was treated in a way that worked well with the viewers. So, our intention is to make Luka Chuppi 2 just as accessible with a twist. We also plan to rope in the previous cast, along with new faces in the sequel."
Well, that sounds like a plan. Earlier in an interview, when Kriti was asked if she would like to collaborate with Kartik Aaryan once again on the screens, she had hinted towards the possibility of a sequel. She had then said, "Whenever the opportunity comes, or else Luka Chhupi 2, you never know."
Well, now we know Kriti.
