Saand Ki Aankh has been grabbing headlines for all the right reasons. It is one of the coolest biopics which has the gangsta appeal to it as well. Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar Prakashi and Chandro Tomar respectively. The trailer of Saand Ki Aankh has dropped a few days ago and was received well by many. The story intrigued many and people are looking forward to it. One of the sharpshooters, Prakashi Tomar who despite having trained in the art for two long years had won her first-ever medal only in 2000.
Back then Prakashi had defeated Deputy Inspector General of Delhi Police, Dheeraj Singh. Despite winning the championship, Prakashi had hidden the newspaper article congratulating her about the win. But when her daughter Seema won the silver medal in Trap Shooting at the ISSF World Cup in England, the mother in Prakashi gave her the loudest and the most cheerful welcome of all. Prakashi had called a train of five cars and even three dholwallahs to welcome her at the airport.
"I wanted her to know that she is a hero. Just like my granddaughter Ruby, who is now an inspector," says Prakashi, with pride. She expressed that it was a mark of the progress of Baghpat village, Uttar Pradesh. It took time, good long years but finally, the change came.
It was not the case when they took up the rifle. Earlier, Prakashi just like her sister-in-law Chandro used to accompany her daughter to the Johri Rifle Club to support her. But she took everyone by a surprise when she hit the bullseye on the first attempt. She left everyone including the coaches, shocked. "Milk five cows every day and work in the fields, you will also have the strength to hold and fire a gun," the 82-year-old sharpshooter reminiscences with a laugh.
She went on to tell the story of a man who she beat at some tour. "He didn't want to be photographed, having lost the match to me," she laughed.
Both Prakashi and Chandro are pumped up about their biopic being made in Bollywood. They want to convey a message to everyone that it's the body that gets old, not the mind. She further adds about the filming, "They (Taapsee and Bhumi) used to come running barefoot into my house. I'd admonish them, tell them to cover their face with a ghoonghat. We didn't want the look to be out, no?" Prakashi reasons. Asked about how did she like the look? "Look what they did to their pretty faces! Taapsee insisted we should have started our careers when we were young so that they didn't have to turn gray. Now their parents know what they will look like when they turn 60," she laughed off.
Prakashi hopes to hold a screening of their biopic in their village for the ladies. She hopes that it would encourage them to chase their dreams.
