The D-day is here! Karan Johar's Student of The Year 2 which has been directed by Punit Malhotra has finally hit the theatres and we can't keep calm! Well, mostly because along with the hunky Tiger Shroff, we are being introduced two debutantes, two beauties- Tara Sutaria and Ananya Panday. While Ananya comes from a filmy background, Tara, on the other hand, is new to Bollywood. But they aren't the only ones who have us excited. Apart from these stunning girls, the high school drama also features Aditya Seal who, it is safe to say, is being re-launched with the Dharma project. While Tiger will be seen as the hero of SOTY 2, Aditya who started his career with Ek Chhotisi Love Story and featured in films like We Are Friends, Purani Jeans, Tum Bin 2 and the latest one being Arjun Kapoor-Parineeti Chopra-starrer Namaste England, is playing the part of the antagonist. And guess what, we are hearing great things about his stint. However, that's not the only thing going around. For good reasons or bad, reports were recently rife that the actor is getting engaged to Anushka Ranjan. While the duo has been making public appearances together, the news of engagement surprised us, to say the least.
Not just us, even Aditya was amused to hear it. He even opened up about the same and told Zoom, "I really want to know who spread this. It came as news to me. I was like wait, what. I woke up in the morning and had a hearty laugh thinking what are people talking about! When I am totally focussing on my work, people are saying these things. It's funny, there's no absolutely no truth to it."
One being probed further, he assured that while they are great friends and he enjoys her company, he's focussed only on his work at the moment. "Firstly, we are great friends. I enjoy her company, it's amazing. She's a fantastic girl, I love spending time with her. But rumours about me getting engaged are so BS. It hasn't even crossed my mind as of right now. Work is all I am thinking about. How can I think about anything but that," Aditya added.
While that is that, Anushka who also caught the special screening of SOTY 2 recently took to Insta and wrote, "@adityaseal I ve always known you to be good and true to your art but after watching #soty2 I m beyond words .. you were amazing! You looked like a million bucks and were a delight to watch.. you were shining my star- go make the whole world blind now @punitdmalhotra you must take a bow. Your hard work shows and I can t wait for the world to praise you @ananyapanday you little rock star! You deserve all the good that s coming your way?" To which Aditya replied, "Thank you loveeeeeee..lets blind them together "
Talking about SOTY2, it has been produced under the banner of Dharma Productions and will be distributed by Fox Star Studios. Earlier, the film had garnered headlines because of none other than Will Smith. Mainly because he took us back to 2012, with his rendition of Radha in the film, where he matched steps with Tiger and the newbies. Smith shot for the song on his last visit to India. The Hollywood actor recently shared a behind-the-scenes video, wherein he is seen practising for his performance and boy, it looked like he was born to be a Bollywood dancer.
Our film critic, Urmimala Banerjee gave it two stars and wrote, "Leave your logic behind and you won't find SOTY2 to be a disappointment. It is a total timepass movie with some lilting music and funny one-liners. And let us tell you that both the girls are quite confident and you would see more of them."
