Marjaavaan: Here's why Ritiesh Deshmukh didn't take inspiration from Shah Rukh Khan for his character

The trailer of Marjaavaan dropped on the net just yesterday and the noise it has made is beyond! People are loving the movie's trailer left, right and centre. The trailer launch was attended by the whole star cast including Sidharth Malhotra, Ritiesh Deshmukh, Tara Sutaria, Rakul Preet Singh, director Milap Zaveri, and producers Bhushan Kumar, Nikkhil Advani and Monisha Advani. Riteish plays the antagonist in the film while Sidharth is the hero, the heavy-duty dialoguebaazi between the two won several nods and hearts. People even appreciated the chemistry between Tara Sutaria and Sidharth.

Tara plays a mute girl in Marjaavaan for which the actress took up sign language. The actress expressed that she would use the sign language all her life. Sidharth and Ritiesh shared their shooting dilemma given that Ritish plays a vertically challenged character. While Ritiesh was his goofy self, Sidharth revealed that it was hard for him as while filming Ritiesh stood as tall as five-nine, while in film, he would be just somewhere around three.

Given the fact that hitherto, Shah Rukh Khan in Zero, Kamal Haasan in Appu Raja had played a vertically challenged character, Riteish was asked whether he took inspiration from those two stars, he told Mumbai Mirror, "Kamal sir did it at a time when technology wasn't so advanced. Shah Rukh sir I watched live when he was shooting for Zero and quickly realised I couldn't match them, so I didn't even try." Talking about the protagonist Siddharth, the actor heaped praises about him and went on to compare him with Amitabh Bachchan's deep and distinctive baritone voice.

Recently, Saand Ki Aankh makers were criticised for casting younger actresses when the film dealt with the story of women who were 60 plus. On the same lines, Ritiesh was questioned whether his role should have gone to a real-life vertically challenged ma, the Housefull 4 actor said, "As an actor when I am offered a role, my job is to see whether I will be able to do it justice or not." the director Milap interjected and added saying, "While everyone deserves an opportunity to act, perform and be represented, it's also fair that actors get chances to experiment too."

Marjaavaan will hit the theatres on 22nd November 2019. For more scoops and updates, stay tuned to BollywoodLife.
